The Italian national anthem (l'inno nazionale) is titled "Fratelli d'Italia"
with music by Michele Novaro and words (il testo) by Goffredo Mameli.
It is often called "L'Inno di Mameli" and "Il Canto degli Italiani".
In the first verse, Scipio refers to the Roman general who defeated Carthage.
